Margaret E. "Peggy" Blackford, 1904 - 2003Services for Margaret E. "Peggy" Blackford, 99, of Locust Grove, were held Friday, July 25, 2003, at 2:00pm in the First United Methodist Church, Locust Grove. Rev. Claude Blackford and Rev. Mark Watson officiated, with interment following in Graham Memorial Cemetery, Pryor. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blackford was born May 8, 1904, in Bolivar, Ohio, to Thomas and Carrie (Smith) Petree. She grew up and attended school in Canton, Ohio, and it was there she married Claude Blackford on July 1, 1966. The Blackfords came to the Locust Grove area in 1976 from Bartlesville, where they had lived for the previous 24 years. Mrs. Blackford was a homemaker, and she enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also composed sacred music, and won several awards for her poetry. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove.  She passed from this life on Monday, July 21, 2003, at her home in Locust Grove.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Claude Blackford of the home; daughter Jane and husband Rev. Robert L. Spencer of Lewisville, Texas; daughter-in-law Linda Blackford of Broken Arrow; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents and one son, Rev. Claude Nicky Blackford.
