Jerry D. Ragsdale
July 24, 1940 - June 13, 2003
 
Jerry RagsdaleServices for Jerry D. Ragsdale, 62, of Rose, were held Monday, June 16, 2003, at 2:00pm in the First Baptist Church, Locust Grove.  Pastor Larry McDonald and Rev. Utah Humphrey officiated, with interment following in the Elm Grove Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Ragsdale was born July 24, 1940, in Rose, to Claude W. and Phyllis Faye (Bisbee) Ragsdale.  He was a lifetime resident of the Rose area.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged at Ft. Hood, Texas, in 1962.  He married Bernice Ann Ringgold on September 27, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma.  He worked for many years as a carpenter and also a dairyman; he was later a security officer at Featherlite Vogue in Pryor, retiring in 2000.

Some of his favorite pastimes included tending his lawn and working in his vegetable and flower gardens. He loved to spend a lot of time outdoors and he enjoyed walking down to the creek.  He also enjoyed reading his Bible and going to Les Feldick bible study in Tahlequah. He liked reading Charles Stanley books, and he loved to watch his grandchildren in their sports.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove.  Many will remember him as the type of person who never met a stranger.  He passed from this life on Friday, June 13, 2003, at his home near Rose.

Survivors include his wife Bernice Ragsdale of the home; daughter Christy Ragsdale of Rose; brother LeRoy Ragsdale and wife Pat of Pryor; a special son, Kevin DuBois; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by both parents; his brother C.W. Ragsdale; and sister Naomi Duncan.
