Floyd L. Alverson

Floyd L. Alverson, 1933 - 2003A memorial service for Floyd L. Alverson, 69, of Peggs, was held Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 2:00pm in the Peggs Community Church. Rev. Henry Fine officiated.

Mr. Alverson was born November 23, 1933, in Chickasha, to Floyd B. and Estelle (Todd) Alverson. He grew up and attended school in Chickasha, and later married Earline Simmons on April 24, 1956, in Locust Grove. He entered the U.S. Navy and served as an electronics technician for 23 years. His awards included the Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal, Fidelity Zeal Obedience, and three National Defense Honors. In 1973 he retired from the Navy and came to the Peggs area from his last station at Newport, Rhode Island. Following his retirement from the service, he worked as an electrician for 20 years at Randy’s Electric. His favorite pastimes included fishing, watching John Wayne movies, playing with his dogs, and especially spending time with his grandkids.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2003, in Tahlequah.

He is survived by his wife Earline Alverson of the home; son William and wife Jamie Alverson of Peggs; five daughters, Rosemary Jetton of McLoud, Regena Alverson, Renee and husband Ed Snow, Rita and husband Rick Coulson, all of Peggs, and Bonnie Snow of Konawa; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, an infant brother Dwayne Alverson, brother Sam L. Sparks, and one grandson.
