Graveside services for Kenneth Lee Chaffin, 43, of Locust Grove, were held Tuesday at 2pm in Hogan Cemetery. Rev. Mark Watson and Rev. Ron Robinson officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born September 25, 1957, in Coral Gables, Florida, to John A. and Virginia M. (Jones) Chaffin. He passed from this life on April 13, 2001, at his home near Locust Grove.
He lived in Florida and Dallas before moving to Locust Grove around age 11. He attended Locust Grove Schools, but finished at Tahlequah High School, where he graduated in 1976. He worked as a tree trimmer for Wright Tree Service in Tulsa, until he became permanently disabled and retired in 1986. He married Velma French on September 23, 1994, in Fayetteville. He loved the outdoors, and especially trees. He was also very fond of animals, particularly his dogs and cats. He loved reading, and his favorite subject was Civil War history. He was a very big fan of the Rolling Stones, who he finally saw perform live three years ago in Norman. He also enjoyed watching golf and football on TV.
He is survived by his wife Velma of the home; son Eric Lee Chaffin of the home; parents John and Virginia Chaffin of Locust Grove; brother Tony M. and wife Becky Chaffin of Salina, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
