The Locust Grove
Funeral Home was established in 1998 by Joe Caldwell and Rick Stephens. The funeral home is in the historic McMullen home
located at the corner of Ross and Wyandotte. This
home dates back to 1912, originally serving as a boarding house.
Locust Grove Funeral Home was founded on the basis of
being a full service funeral establishment committed to providing sincere, quality service
at an affordable price. In July of 2004, Joe
Caldwell made the decision to retire from the funeral business and pursue other endeavors. Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Stephens felt the necessity
to find a funeral professional to carry on the business in a way that would benefit the
community, as well as the business.
In early August of 2004, Shawn and Melissa Bates chose
to return to Locust Grove. Their young family
became very excited about purchasing the Locust Grove Funeral Home. Their commitment lies within providing service
that is not comparable in the community of Locust Grove.
Locust Grove Funeral Home offers to the public
numerous funeral options, from burial to cremation. Pre-arrangement
options of all kinds are also available. Locust
Grove Funeral Home also can assist you in purchasing memorial stones and securing cemetery
property. Above all, this family operated
establishment offers personalization options that help to make the funeral process a time
of remembrance for that special person. From
personalized caskets to video tributes. We
make our video tributes available to the public for any occasion (ie: weddings,
graduations, etc.).
Our facilities bring to mind the nostalgia of the
old time funeral home, back when the business was a family operation in the
home. We are able to accommodate all families
at any given time. Our funeral home is
available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our vision is to be able to offer our families the
best in quality service, as well as facilities. We
have completed a state-of-the-art embalming and preparation room on site. This makes our funeral home unique to Locust
Grove. As well, plans to build a chapel are
being made. Just as the people of this area
have given their trust to Locust Grove Funeral Home, we want to give back by providing the
best in funeral service care. We encourage
all to come by and visit. As you will see in
the following biographies of our staff, we are hometown people serving you.
The Bates family, consisting of Shawn, Melissa, William (right), and Caleb (left), is glad to
be back in Locust Grove. Shawn and Melissa
strive to provide service beyond expectation. They
are thankful for the opportunity given them and want to continue the tradition set forth
by Floyd and Ginger Cunningham, Joe and Ashley Caldwell, and Rick and Gloria Stephens.
