William “Red” Russell

William “Red” Russell was born March 2, 1955, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Bill and Mary (Blackbear) Russell.  He passed from this life on Saturday, July 2, 2005, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 50 years and 4 months.

Growing up, “Red” attended schools in the Leach and Kansas, Oklahoma area.   As a youngster, he enjoyed the outdoors, and playing ball.  “Red” also liked fishing, gigging and looking for wild onions.  William Russell and Emma Foreman have been married for over 28 years.  “Red” has been a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past 30 years.

“Red” had worked as a machinist in the metal fabrication industry.   He also enjoyed music concerts and drag racing.

“Red” is survived by: his wife:  Emma Russell of the home; 3 children:  Bill Russell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susan Russell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mandi Russell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren:  Mia Gourd, Alyssa Diaz, and Justus Gourd; 1 brother:  Tony Russell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 sisters:  Georgie Russell-Ibarra of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Wilma Russell-Clifton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

“Red” was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother:  Larry Russell; 2 sisters:  Cherry Russell-Long and Vera Russell.

 Traditional wake services were held 7:30 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2005, at the Elm Prairie Baptist Church in Leach, Oklahoma.  Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 8, 2005, also at the Elm Prairie Baptist Church.  Reverend Fox Blackfox and Reverend Dennis Bendabout officiated.   Interment followed at the Elm Cemetery in Leach, Oklahoma.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
