Wilma Jean Horner

Wilma Jean Horner was born December 15, 1937, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Dovie (Giles) McFarland.  She departed this life on Thursday, April 21, 2005, in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Wilma was a lifetime Locust Grove and Mayes County area resident.  She attended Locust Grove schools.  On September 23, 1955, in California, Wilma Jean Giles and Wallace Lewis Horner were united in marriage.  This year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.  Currently, they lived in Salina.

Wilma worked as a waitress for many years for Cook’s Restaurant and the Village Inn, both in Locust Grove.  She loved basketball, especially watching her granddaughter play.  Wilma also loved rodeos, riding horses, and watching stock car and horse races.  Most of all, where ever her family was, she loved to be there with them.

Wilma is survived by: her loving husband: Wallace “Wally” Horner, of the home; 2 sons: Rocky Horner and wife Liz of Peggs, Oklahoma and Jerry Dee Horner and wife Miranda of Salina, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Jeannie Anderson and husband Seth of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; her mother: Dovie McFarland of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Jay McFarland and wife Helen of Pryor, Oklahoma; 2 sisters: Anna Perkins and husband Bill of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Janet Rogers and husband Corky of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nieces, other relatives, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father: Floyd McFarland and her mother-in-law: Leona “Granny Lee” Horner.

Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 25, 2005, at His Way Christian Fellowship Church in Locust Grove.  Reverend Loren Beck and Reverend Mary Jane Austin officiated.  Interment of cremated remains took place at a later date at Ross-Mayes Cemetery in Salina, Oklahoma.  Services were entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
