Reta June Rutledge

Reta June Rutledge was born July 5, 1939, in Coweta, Oklahoma, to Claude Edward and Lillie Vivian (Martin) Randeau.  She passed from this life on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the age of 65 years and 8 months.

As a young girl, Reta grew up in the Tulsa area.  She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa.  On December 29, 1967, Reta and Lloyd A. Rutledge were united in marriage.  Reta was a resident of Locust Grove for over 28 years, having moved here in 1977.  Reta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.  Reta worked for the United States Postal Service as a customer service representative.   She retired in 1993 as postmaster in Rose, Oklahoma.

Reta loved painting, cross stitching and working with plastic canvass.  She was also an avid reader, enjoying good mysteries whenever she could.  Most of all she loved her family and her grandchildren.

Reta is survived by: 6 children:  Cathy Rutledge of Grapevine, Texas, Dale Rutledge and wife Janet of Houston, Texas, Mark Brown and wife Jan of Watts, Oklahoma, Michael Brown of the home, Rena Easter of the home, and Lori Rutledge-Hurst and husband Keith of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 1 daughter-in-law:   Kay Rutledge of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren:  Doug Rutledge, Jaime Stoner, Lindsey Fazendine, Desiree` Huffman, Natasha Brown, Brittany Ryals, and James B. Ryals; 5 great-grandchildren: Christopher Rutledge, Paige Rutledge, Rheanna Stoner, Sierra Hair, and Alyvia Stoner; 1 sister: Glenda Randeau of Richardson, Texas; 2 sister-in-laws: Mary Randeau of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mary Louise KuyKendall and husband Bill of Prue, Oklahoma; a close friend: Sarah Ragsdale of Rose, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Reta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 24, 2002; 1 son: Allen Rutledge; 1 brother: Wayne Randeau; and 2 infant sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove with Reverend Larry McDonald officiating.  Interment followed at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
