Ray Lee Hite

Ray Lee Hite was born on February 1, 1933, in Hollywood, California, to Benjamin Franklin and Ann Rutha (Sweet) Hite.  He departed this life on Friday, February 18, 2005, at the age of 72 years and 17 days.

Mr. Hite grew up and attended schools in southern California.  On September 4, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ray Lee Hite and Loretta Cook were united in marriage.

Mr. Hite worked for the County of San Bernardino in California.  He then worked as a ceramic tile plant foreman for the Hunnington Tile Company in Pomona, California.  Mr. Hite retired from there in 1981.

He moved to Oklahoma from California in 1998, settling in Salina about three years ago.  He had been a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina.  He had coached “Little League Baseball” for several years and enjoyed sewing plastic canvas.  Mr. Hite had also enjoyed fishing.  He was led to the Lord by his son-in-law, Smokey, over a year ago.  He will be missed dearly.

Mr. Hite is survived by: 1 son: Trevor Hite of San Bernardino, California;   1 daughter: Trisha L. Tennison and husband Smokey of Salina, Oklahoma;  2 grandchildren: Megan and Faith Tennison;  3 brothers: Bob Asher of Rialto, California;  Gary Asher of Rialto, California;  Mike Asher of Bloomington, California;  1 sister: Yvonne Shaddox of Rialto, California; other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Hite was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Loretta, in 1995; 1 son: Troy Hite; and 3 brothers.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at the Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina, Oklahoma.  Reverend Smokey Tennison and Reverend Bobby Belew officiated.  Interment followed at the Bryan Chapel Cemetery near Boatman.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
