Rabion Lee Bolin, Sr.

Rabion Lee Bolin, Sr. was born November 29, 1947, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Ross Markham Bolin Sr. and Louella (Grass) Bolin.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the age of 57 years, 3 months, and 3 days.

 As a young boy, he attended schools in the Locust Grove, Smith Chapel and Little Kansas Districts.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.  On May 25, 1985, Rabion and Sheila Smoke were united in marriage.

 Rabion was known to his friends and family as “Boo-Boo”.  He had been a resident of Salina for over 17 years.  As well, Mr. Bolin had lived in the Locust Grove, Pryor, and Tulsa areas.  He was a member of the Standing Rock Baptist Church.

 “Boo-Boo” enjoyed fishing, playing with his cats, and picking wild onions.  He also liked football, basketball, volleyball, and professional wrestling.  He loved playing the guitar and being with his grandkids.  He had an interest in cars of any kind and considered himself a “classic” like a ’57 Chevy.   Rabion was well liked and loved.  He will be greatly missed by all.

 Rabion is survived by: his wife:  Sheila of the home; 6 children: Robin Lynn Phelps and husband David of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Rodney Lee Bolin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rhonda LaNelle Easter and husband Albert of Salina, Oklahoma, Rabion “Barney” Lee Bolin, Jr. of Pryor, Oklahoma, Steven Micheal Bolin of the home, and Maggie Dawn Bolin of the home; 7 grandchildren:  Lucien Ray Bolin, Latisha Renee Bolin, Janelle Annette DuBois, Sierra Grace Bolin, Rachel Leigh Bolin, Seth Gabriel Bolin, and Vera Sue Bolin; 2 sisters:   Rita Osage and husband Steve of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Nora Arnold and husband Don of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

 Rabion was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 4 sisters; 4 nephews; and 1 great niece. 

 Traditional wake services were held 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Snake Creek Baptist Church near Locust Grove.  Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 5, 2005, also at the Snake Creek Baptist Church.  Reverend Steve Osage officiated and Rodney Bolin read the obituary.  Interment followed at the Little Rock Indian Cemetery.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
