Onnie Elizabeth Norris

Onnie Elizabeth Norris was born November 9, 1925, in Florence, South Carolina, to Perry S. and Bessie (Collins) Hicks.  She passed from this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 6 days.

Onnie attended schools in Hartsville, South Carolina, where she earned her high school diploma.  Onnie worked for many years as a bookkeeper and office manager for Goldman Brothers in Dallas, Texas.

On January 14, 1972, in Mesquite, Texas, Onnie and Bobby Jack Norris were joined in marriage.   He preceded her in death on May 13, 2002.   Mrs. Norris lived in Texas for many years.   Upon retirement, she relocated to Locust Grove, Oklahoma.  Onnie was of the Episcopalian faith.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Onnie is survived by: 1 daughter:  Cecelia Adcock and husband Gene of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 son:  Wesley Norris and wife Kristi of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 sister:  Joy Gandy and husband Heyward of South Carolina; 2 granddaughters:  Ginger Turcotte and Christina Cox; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Onnie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Memorial services were held on June 27, 2005, at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
