Norma Jean Coday

Norma Jean Coday was born November 5, 1929 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to Jim and Chloe (Mitchell) Griffin.  She passed from this life on Thursday, May 26, 2005, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 21 days.

Norma, a lifetime Locust Grove resident, graduated from Locust Grove High School.   In 1947, Norma and Bill Coday were united in marriage.  She attended the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.  Norma had worked for Fleming Drug for over 5 years and also worked at Ford Variety for over 40 years.

Norma had enjoyed bowling.  She was also an avid reader. As well, she enjoyed doing yard work.  Norma also liked to travel, taking Senior Tours with the Bank of Locust Grove when she was able.  Most of all she enjoyed being with her entire family, especially her grandchildren.

Norma is survived by: 2 sons:  Sonny Coday of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and               Bubby Coday and wife Karen of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 granddaughter:  Dani Tyree and husband Mike of Sullivan, Missouri; 2 great-grandsons:  Lane and Kyle Tyree of Sullivan, Missouri; 3 brothers:  Jim Griffin of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Jay Griffin of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Duke Griffin of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 sister:  Pat Holt of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends and church family.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, on August 28, 1983; 1 brother: Charlie Griffin; and 1 sister: Peggy Davis.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove with Reverend Larry Downum officiating.  Interment followed at Little Rock Indian Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
