John Clifford Wilson, Jr.

John Clifford Wilson, Jr. was born April 6, 1926, in Alma, Arkansas, to John Clifford and Daisy Lou (Moseby) Wilson.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

As a young boy, he attended schools in the Tulsa area.  On August 19, 1943, John and Margaret Dorthy Reed were joined in marriage.  To this union were born 4 children: Kathy, Johnny, Joe, and Billy.  John also lived in Sapulpa and Mannford.  John was a resident of the Sam’s Corner area of Locust Grove for over 30 years.

While the children were growing up, the family spent lots of time camping and fishing.  Kathy was known as “his baby girl”, always getting by with everything.  Mr. Wilson had been a member of the Cedar Crest Baptist Church and held the position as Sunday School Director.  He loved playing the piano and singing for his grandkids.

John had been a part of a C B Club for several years.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening as well as walking and caring for his dog.  John knew everyone and was well liked.  You could not miss his friendly face, warm smile, and loving heart.  He was also known to be ornery and good humored.

John is survived by: 3 sons:  Johnny Wilson and wife Rosemarie of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Joe Wilson and wife Kathi of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Billy Wilson and wife Carolyn of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; 1 daughter:  Kathy Barnes and husband Leon of Sperry, Oklahoma; 1 brother:   Ronald Gene Wilson and wife Deanna of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 16 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; several other relatives, many brothers and sisters in Christ, and numerous friends as well as neighbors.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife:  Margaret Dorthy (Reed) Wilson on February 12, 1990; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and a very special friend Lodema Reed.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 14, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove with Reverend Jess Dinsmore and Reverend Alvey Thornton officiating.  Interment followed at the Hogan Cemetery.  Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
