James “Jim” Brewer

James “Jim” Austin Brewer was born November 30, 1946, in Mulberry, Arkansas, to Ray Haskell and Juanita Marie (Payton) Brewer.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 58 years, 6 months, and 15 days.

 Jim attended school at Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   He also lived in Jennings, Oklahoma for over 10 years, and Locust Grove, Oklahoma for the past 15 years.  Jim worked as a butcher with Armor Packing Company until their company moved out of Oklahoma.  More recently, he worked as a machinist for a roofing material manufacturing company.

 Jim was of the Baptist faith.  He faithfully watched the airing of Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma on television.  Jim loved dogs and enjoyed being a member of the American Kennel Club (A.K.C.).  He liked coon hunting, fishing, and enjoyed the outdoors.  He also enjoyed working with cattle.  Jim was a natural carpenter and made numerous keepsakes by whittling wood.   

 Jim is survived by: 3 children:  Felicia Pointer and husband Earnest of Owasso, Oklahoma, Raeline Brewer of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Clifford Brewer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren:  Misty Pointer and Ashley Pointer; 1 brother:  Richard Brewer and wife Deann of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; mother:   Juanita Payton of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; other relatives, and a host of friends.

 Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ray Brewer; 1 brother:  David Brewer; and 1 grandson: Jace Ray Austin Leach.

 Services were held 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Jubilee Ministries Church, Locust Grove, Oklahoma, with Reverend Ray Gwartney officiating.  Interment followed at the Jennings City Cemetery, Jennings, Oklahoma.   Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
