Wallise “Coot” Standingwater

Wallise Denise Standingwater was born September 12, 1985 to Frank and Loretta (Leach) Standingwater in Claremore, Oklahoma.  The Lord took her home at 3:15am September 3, 2004 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, just short of her 19^th birthday.

Wallise graduated in 2004 from Locust Grove High School and Northeast Area Vo-Tech.  Her focus was in Culinary Arts.  Wallise took top honors at FCCLA State Competition being awarded 1^st place in Cake Decoration.   Her aspirations were to become a chef specializing in cakes and pastries.  After graduation she was employed by the Cherokee Nation Enterprises as a cook for the Cherokee Hills Golf Club.  Wallise was a member of the Snake Creek Baptist Church.

Wallise was known as “Coot” by her friends and family.  She was a kind, considerate, and generous young lady.  She was loyal, to a fault, to all those she loved.  Her favorite pastimes were cooking, listening to music, and going to concerts.  She also enjoyed swimming at the creek.  Above all, she loved just being with her friends and family.  “Coot” will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.  Her sweet smile and fun-loving spirit will live on in our hearts and memories.

Wallise is survived by: her father and mother Frank & Loretta Standingwater of the home; brother and sister-in-law: David W. & Meredith Standingwater of Locust Grove; sister: Wendy Standingwater and her Fiancé Bryan Phillips of Locust Grove; sister and Brother-in-law: Willa and Mark Blakley of Locust Grove; her “Bubba”: Wendall Ragsdale and wife Kelly of Tulsa; 1 nephew: Ashton Standingwater of Locust Grove; 2 nieces: Autumn Standingwater and Alexis Blakley, both of Locust Grove; maternal grandmother: Bessie Leach, also of Locust Grove; also surviving are 8 uncles, one aunt, numerous close cousins, other relatives, and countless friends.

Wallise was preceded in death by: her paternal grandparents: Willie & Martha Standingwater; maternal grandfather: Dave Leach; and dear to heart, Uncle Elvis Leach.

Funeral services were held 2 PM, Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the Snake Creek Baptist Church, near Locust Grove, with Reverend Vinnis Hilderbrand and Reverend James Wilkerson officiating.  Interment followed at Little Rock Cemetery.  Services were entrusted to the care of Locust Grove Funeral Home.
