Obituary for

Ollie L. Binam

    Funeral services for Ollie L. Binam, 91, of Locust Grove, were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 10, 2000, at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Locust Grove.  Reverend Jerry Shoemaker and Reverend Harry Jackson officiated with interment following in Hogan Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of Locust Grove Funeral Home.

    Ms. Binam was born February 15, 1908, in Inola, to George Cornelious and Mollie (Hawk) Duffield.  She passed from this life on Saturday, January 8, 2000, in Pryor.

    She was a lifetime resident of the area, attending school in Inola through 3rd grade.  She then went to the Cedar Bluff and Lone Star Schools.  She married Henry Binam on December 15, 1921, in Pryor.

    She was a hardworking Christian lady and a dedicated homemaker who sacrificed herself for her family and friends.  A loving mother and grandmother, she raised two of her grandchildren.  She loved to crochet and piece quilt tops, and she was an expert gardener.  She also loved listening to gospel music and taught Sunday school for many years.  She attended the Free Will Baptist Church in Locust Grove in earlier years and attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God later in her life.

    She is survived by 2 daughters: Virginia Mossier of Pryor and Letha Morris and husband Frank of Tulsa; 1 step-sister: Dolly Applegate of Peggs; 17 grandchildren; 28 great­grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by: both parents; by her husband Henry Binam; 4 sons: Willard, Phillip, Bill, and James Binam; 1 daughter: Sue Hodge; 7 brothers: Johnny, Clifford, Nathaniel, Evert, Bill, Eugene, and Wallace; and 5 sisters: Dollie, Helen, Juanita, Georgia, and Essie.
