Obituary for

Jesse H. Ryan 

Funeral services for Jesse H. Ryan, 65, of Locust Grove, were held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, February 3, 2000 at the Cornerstone Outreach Church.  Rev. Louis Maxwell officiated with interment following in Hogan Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of Locust Grove Funeral Home. 

Mr. Ryan was born January 17, 1935, in Haskell, to Jesse Harold (Sr.) and Myrtle (Ward) Ryan.  He passed from this life on Monday, January 31, 2000, at his home near Locust Grove. 

He grew up in Haskell, and entered the US Army on June 9, 1954.  He served in the Korean Conflict, earned the National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged June 7, 1957.  He married Shirley Fay Buchanan November 2, 1956, in Muskogee, and the couple came to Locust Grove in 1967.  Jesse worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines until he retired in 1986. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tinkering with small engines.  He was a member of Transport Workers Union Local 514 in Tulsa.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a devoted husband and a loving father who will be dearly missed. 

He is survived by sons David Ryan and wife Angie of Locust Grove, Harold Ryan of the home, and James Ryan of Locust Grove; brothers Troy Price and wife Dorothy of Flint Ridge, and J.C. Ryan of Muskogee; sisters Karen Hillhouse and husband Dwight of Sand Springs, Patty Murphy, and Deloris Bacon, both of Muskogee; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving in-laws. 

He was preceded in death by both parents; by his wife Shirley on January 22, 2000; and brothers Ralph Ryan, Bill Price, and Roy Price.
